Subdividing
When you learn to subdivide, your fill and beat ideas are ENDLESS. Subdiving is easy.

One Quarter Note is
Two Eighth Notes is
4 Sixteenth Notes is
8 Thirty Second Notes

When subdividing you have to think how many notes you want to fit in your fill. For example, in a 4 beat fill, you can fit 16 sixteenth notes. Be creative, and think of unique fills by subdividing. Think of what you CAN fit in the space and randomly hit your drums. It may surprise you about how many fills you can create by doing this.
