Dead Sticking
Dead sticking can be used on all drums. When you do a dead sticking stroke, you will stop the sound of the drum, making the drum's sound damper and shorter.
To dead stick, simply do a regular stroke, but with your pointing finger on top of the stick. This will cause the stick to not bounce up. After you hit the drum, just press the stick down on the drum, stopping the sound.
